Should I buy this Audi A4?
Hey guys, Im looking to buy my first a4, and Im sort of curious to what you guys think.
Heres the cars background
Private Sale
2000 Audi A4
155,000km
Auto/Tip
Leather
Price: $6500
Im waiting on getting a carfax back from my friend
It was purchased new by the current owners stepfather in 2000
The car has been maintained with basics (fluids, oil filters, brakes, calipers) and the rear wheel bearings replaced.
Now, I asked the owner about the timing belt, and he said it had never been changed....
Also, I questioned the owner about the interior asking if it was modified/aftermarket, but he claims that is what the "sport" package from audi comes with along with the s4 lowered suspension, the 7 spoke rims, and the paddle shifters on the steering wheel as well as the steering wheel itself
Now, I havent seen this interior before on any audi classifieds and was hoping you could give me some insight to this...
THANKS!

Welcome to the forums! looks nice you could definitely get it for cheaper though cause that timing belt and maintenance will need to be done. if ur gonna be wanting to do performance upgades the v6 wont allow for almost anything, but according to most people it can be more reliable.

I paid $5,000 for mine with less miles. I would suggest starting at $5,000 and see what they are willing to negotiate for. They should come down from $6,500 for not doing the Timing Belt alone......
Overall looks like a decent car, and as it was stated earlier, will be dead reliable as long as you keep up with maintenance. Good luck, keep us informed!!

Thanks for the replies guys, about the price, ive been trying to knock him down, and so far ive only gotten him about half way down to 5k.
Do you guys think $4800 is a reasonable offer? Theres a couple rock dings on the front bumper and small scratches on the rear, but other than that it seems pretty solid..
Oh and has anyone here done the timing belt/water pump on the 2.8? Ive got some prior knowledge, but never with timing belts, just small things. Ive seen some DIY's on the procedure, but only for ther 1.8t never the 2.8....

$6,500 is definitley too much...I paid $6k for mine, 2001 1.8t, stick, loaded, sport packy, cold weather packy, wheel upgrade, etc, 82,000mi and the belt/pump was already done
Good luck, pretty good find, if it doesn't work out, im sure there's another audi for you
