Shot Transmission Overnight????
Okay so super rough time with the audi right now. I just had a semi engine rebuild starting from head gasket to timing chain and tensioner, valve cover, oil pump, and all other gaskets involved, including new timing belt and tensioner damper which was only 1500 km old.
So the mechanic calls says all the repairs on the engine are done he puts it back in. for some the timing jumps a few teeth. realizes the new timing belt tensioner is bad after 1500 miles cant be reused. So i get another and he recommends new timing belt as well. Done. He mounts the engine back in, and making grinding noise on throttle( still on lift).
I take off for the wekeend had vacation plannned. Come back and now he said the grinding is from inside the transmission and likely its shot.
How the hell does a transmission go from good (160 000KM triptronic on 98 audi a4) to grinding after he puts the engine back in?????
Can someone please tell me why, how the transmission can die overnight. The car has been in the shop since he pulled the engine out for the repairs puts it back in now its dead?
Is this possible or is it possible that the mechanic messed it up when reinstalling the engine?
PLease someone explain what could have happened, i dont want to pay 3-5ooo on transmission after this 1800 engine repair.
The transmission was fine before dropping it off, the mechanic himself even went and got mcdonalds in the car the day i dropped it off. I gave him a working car and hes giving me a piece of ****.
