Default Short in my Headlight Switch

I have been having a problem turning my headlights on lately and figured that after it does eventually come on after a few flicks to switch, when I turn on the right turn signal, the headlights go out for a moment and then turn back on, that it must be a short in the steering column. So I guess what I am wondering was if anyone had ever had this problem before and how they resolved it.

it might be your ignition switch.. it has like 9 contacts on it, one of them is headlights.. mine went out like 3 months ago.. probably gonna have to get it diagnosed at a shop.. hopefully they diagnose for free.. good luck!

I have been looking at it fairly meticulously over the past few days and I know that it has to do with the headlight switch because if I turn on flip up the headlight switch and hold it there, the headlights stay on, but when I release the pressure, the headlights turn off. I don't know what to do other than either take apart the steering column myself or to take it to a shop.

There is a recall out for the 98 models igntion switch, check with the dealer and make sure it has been done. If it hasn't the switch is free of charge.
