Shift knob
#13
Neither can I. I think there's no point in taking a picture, now that I think about it. It's just the rubber stop with a metal spring inside it. Is there anyone here with a 2000-2001 b5 that can help me here? I'm going to try getting a thin flat head screwdriver in there to maybe separate the rubber from the spring. If that doesn't work, I'm cutting it off!

No more rubber stop! I had to cut it actually. I don't know about pre-2000 b5's but what I thought was a spring around the shaft, ended up being a solid piece of metal that seems to be super glued on. Three pieces of solid rubber suspended the large rubber stop around it which also was solid metal inside. The only thing I could do was to cut off those pieces of rubber. I now have enough room with the small piece of metal to fit the shift **** ring over it. The **** should be on by tomorrow. I'll have pics up by the weekend probably. I never had a car that made it this difficult to put a damn shift **** on lol.
