I have also needed to replace my 02 sensor since buying the car and was not having this kind of issue. could this also be contributing? if so does anyone know if the 02 sensors i buy from he auto part store will clear the codes or does it need to be manufacturer specific?

If you're due to replace the O2 sensor anyways, then it certainly won't hurt your situation. Generally an O2 sensor will read more rich as it ages, and it's possible this is contributing to misfiring.

on the 1.8t, does it have 4 02 sensors or less? I will have to check my codes later but trying to get an idea of what i will have to be replacing and where i will have to get to on the car.

Just 2. One pre-cat, one post. And the pre-cat is the one the ECU watches to tweak the mixture.

All the V motors have two exhaust headers, two cats, and 4 O2 sensors.

Thanks. I read somewhere that some 02 sensors will not make the CEL go away. if I purchase a bosch model from advance do you know if this will clear the code for the 02 sensor? or does anyone know or have any recommendations if not?
