Rwd b5 timeline
So I have been around awhile. Did some trolling built some fun cars.
My current project is my b5. It's a 98 2.8 Quattro manual trans. Bought it completely stock at 86k I'm currently at 132xxx. Lol car is no where near stock anymore it's currently supercharged among other things.
Anyway let's get this ball rolling this march of 2012 I separated 2nd gear from the trans. Gone no teeth left. Car is a clicking heap of German engineering on the side of the road.
So I towed it home and started thinking of options. And decided to swap trans and go Rwd for some ***** and giggles.
So I bought a trans
And started by pulling the Torsen off.
That little c clip is all that holds the Torsen in the housing. Mind you the Torsen is only this big
But I welded it up nice
And reinstalled. Took about 5 hours to do the trans swap. I also swapped shift box to one with fresh bushings and shortened linkage.
I've put about 100 miles one the car all slightly sideways.
And did some donuts here is video
will keep thread updated with pictures and video. She is fun hp wise I'm somewhere around 330-350 range depending on heat soak. Today is suppose to be 103 in Pennsylvania so she will stay parked.

I need to dial in suspension better most likely new rear hyper coil springs (http://www.hypercoils.com/) As well as o34 race carrier bushing for the rear diff. She clunks pretty good and there center joint for drifeshaft. A better sway bar I'm running a stock s4 bar and hutchins front. I am going back to stock front see if slides feel more controlled.
Ps. I have full control arm kit in was shipped in in January in my trunk

Thanks guys
Yesterday I traded my Asa 17s for a set of msw 18s with 235/40/18s. Car feels great with the extra rubber under it. But I need smaller tires for the front. She rubs, I mean I knew she would but was still hoping.
Jeremy when is summer meet this year. And the vw won't be back together so I might take this to waterfest.

I had 235-35-19s a couple years ago on ET42 wheels and was able to clear the uprights by using 5mm spacers - maybe that'd work for you too. Still waiting for Bill to confirm wih the park for a weekend on the meet - hopefully I'll have info soon.
