Default Rpm needle wobbles

It doesn't do it all the time ( most noticebly when I'm in a low gear like first or reverse). For example when I roll up to my house and shift from say first to neutral the rpm needle will rock up and down, going pretty low( like 200 rpm low), until it evens out. Like I said it doesn't do it all the time but it can't be good for the engine for the rpms to be bouncing around like that. Any ideas?

my car does the same thing, i replaced bad looking vacuum lines, and the problem seems to have stopped, for now anyway.
my car has actually died more than a few times because of it doing that. it's very annoying at a stop sign, light, or when you're pulling into a parking spot, and when you push in the clutch it dies, making you look like a dumbass for not knowing how to drive your car.

Do a search for "throttle body alignment" and try that - might or might not help but I've noticed that doing so tends to cut down on that behavior on an A4 after a battery disconnect.
