resonator+muffler delete on 1.8t. Any gain?
Hello to all,
I have already deleted resonator and muffler. Sounds much louder. However is there any HP gain? Car is slightly faster, but i think because it weighs lower. Any one knows much?

Also forgot to ask. My fuel gauge is weird. It never shows full. Gas tank is full but gauge reads 3/4. It stays there until it actually gets to 3/4, then functions properly

There is no horsepower gain from deleting the resonator, although you do lose wieght. Removing the muffler will make your car sound like hell. Even worse than those cheap "fart can" mufflers.
If you want to gain some horsepower, assuming that you have a 1.8T, get an APR or GIAC chip. Then put a larger exhaust on either custom, or Borla, with a front and rear muffler so that your car doesn't sound like you have a hole in your muffler.
Your fuel reading problem is a bad sending unit in the fuel tank. It is not a difficult DIY and is a common problem.

David , since I know this first hand, I must say it doesnt sound like hell. Its not that loud at all. Its raspy when pipe is cold but then it quietes down a lot. But is there horsepower gain from muffler delete? I assume best gain is no muffler at all , right? I hope for at least 5-7 hp

You don't get any horsepower increase from a muffler/resonator delete at all. Not a single pony. Those parts are not restrictive enough for airflow in a car with a stock turbo and stock turbo tuning.
Your car will be fine with 103k miles. There's people with 150k mile engines that chip and it's fine. There's no real negative effect on the engine/turbo/tranny, considering it works within the efficiency range of stock components, but it'll be bad for your gas mileage for the first few days while you floor it around every corner It's pretty much a new car after you chip it.

Interesting post Leifer. I was suspecting the absense of any horsepower gain. Its tiny bit faster because its 60-70 pounds lighter. Its hard to believe that muffler dont rob any horsepower though

Well there is a place here in miami that does chipping. Its around 500 bucks, but they ask for 150 extra if I want the stock setting option as well. Is it worth to have stock settings?

No muffler only sounds bad on a cold motor. After that, it sounds fine and is impossible to compare to a fart can.
I wouldn't expect noticable gains without a chip. When you've got that turbo really spooling, then I'd expect some gain, but removing the cat would do much more.
