so how big is the tank with the blue cap on it? Anyone else have two like that?

 

I would have to take a look to be certain, but I'm pretty sure I have never seen that second lower one under the coolant tank either. The reservoir should be ~1 gal or so.

Would this be the same in my 04 allroad? Lots of fluid squirts out some where between the resevoir and the headlight washers when I use them. It also leaks down to half the tank. Can I access it by taking off the wheel well panel but not the wheel? I have skinny girl arms

 

I found this out while browsing ETKA a few months back, I think it was just AEB-engined cars that had this dual tank setup. Maybe not all AEBs, but it didn't exist after 2000. Probably came on cars with the winter package or something because I've yet to actually see one in the wild.

Bowmans, if you're going to take the fender line out you might as well remove the wheel too. Although, I can't give you any specifics about your allroad. Better off posting in that section.

My '98.5 had it as well (allocated that space to easier oil changes and an oil catch can). Not to mention it leaked, and I don't think the headlight washers worked (those got deleted too... one less hassle when removing the front bumper).

 

Thanks for the replies. I took the wheel and wheel well liner off and there was a hose that had come off between the pump and a splitter. Turned out the clamp was pushed on too far and not clamping at all. (one of those U shaped things.) So I put it back on but didn't push it too far and everything works great now. Made the mistake of taking off the O ring to inspect it and dropping it while putting it back on. Since I didn't know the size, I'm now the proud owner of 406 other O rings in case anyone needs one (or fifty)
