Default Received a little love tap

I was waiting in traffic to get onto the bridge and suddenly got smacked in the rear.

It was a lot of stop and go and I guess the guy behind me wasn't paying attention and gave me a little kiss on the bumper.

No one was hurt. That circle in the middle is from his license plate bolt.

The car's rear bumper was a mess when I got it though, so I'm hoping I can get a new cover out of this!

Not annoying at all if I can get a nice looking rear bumper out of this!

Doesn't appear to be any other damage, though I'm going to ask them to cover an inspection at my shop to make sure the bumper shock absorber dealio thingys aren't damaged.

The adjuster just came and looked at the car, estimated $680 to repaint the bumper.

So..assuming the check is made out to me, which it should be..

Shopping spree?!?! New clutch/flywheel finally?!

A nice clean looking rear bumper would be nice...but not at the top of my list. Or I could try to get it fixed for cash and see what the difference is.

Someone did this to me in a parking lot last summer.

Sanded out the worst, then filled what was left with a little Bondo glazing putty, then rattle can base and clear coat. In the right light you can see the edge of the clear, but I have about $30 in this repair.

ECS has a sale on their RA4 kit right now with free shipping... only $540!!

I wish my car needed a clutch so I could buy that right now but my Valeo kit is only about 13.5 months old and not slipping whatsoever.

You did a good job mtroxel! Paint is one aspect of the car I'm hesitant about touching.

Oh I know .

Those RA4 kits look really nice and the price point is right.

My future plans are to go FT or eliminator of some sort. The RA4 stage 1 kit should be suitable for those power levels.

The only issue I have is with the flywheel. I live in San Francisco and drive on some pretty steep hills on the regular. Needless to say I know how to drive on the hills, but still have heard that a lightweight flywheel isn't advised in steep areas.

My local Audi shop also advises against lightweight flywheels because the engine has not been rebalanced.

Another option would be to get the RA4 stage 1 kit but without the 12lb flywheel and instead go with a 16 or 18lb steel flywheel. Sounds like a better option already..

Any thoughts?

I'm running a 19lb steel flywheel and I wouldn't go any lighter than that for a daily driver. Still get a good amount of vibration from time to time, but I've gotten used to it.

Yeah I just did some searching (go me!) and I'm leaning towards a steel wheel 18-20lbs.

What kind of vibrations are we talking?

Hmm..RA4 kit or something from SB/CM? Thinking the RA4 stage 1 would be enough for me right now.

Buying a flywheel separate really ups the price of this dealio though, possibly out of my price range right now.
