rear window heater

Default rear window heater

hello i have a 97 A4 1.8L 20 V
my problem is that when i try to turn on the electric heater on the rear window to remove the fog i have to press it many times for it to stay on and work!! although the previous times i press them it turns on and after 1-2seconds it goes off again till finally after 20 times or more it works!!! any ideas please help...

Either the switch is faulty or there's a broken wire somewhere that is shorting and tripping some sort of overcurrent protection. Since you can get it to work I'm betting the switch is going bad. First time I've heard of that happening though.

i agree with jeremy i was thinking a short at first but a bad switch sounds likly
