I need to remove my rear subframe in my 1997 a4 quattro 2.8. Does anyone know of a DIY. I can't find any instructions anywhere.

Default Your In Luck

Hello, I have a 1997 A4 2.8 5 speed manual. You can have the whole car if you want. I have not started the car in a year. It looks great and the sub frame is in good condition. I want 1500 for everything with clean title Silver in color

Call me 301/379/2624

It would be a little challenging unless you have a lift but it is not to bad.
Doing it on the ground would involve getting the subframe unbolted & jacking the body up enough to slide the subframe out.
Disconnect driveshaft at rear diff , disconnect rear e-brake cables , brake calipers , i think there are 4 large bolts at each corner of subframe that need to be unbolted. I think on your model there are bolts that also have to be removed at the shock towers.
Don't remove all subframe bolts unless the subframe is supported or on the ground! You do not want to be underneath the subframe when unbolting.

Ugh so it's pretty much common sense- just unbolting things. I should have used more common sense when I bought it! Any idea about how long it will take?

It would probably take you a whole day depending on your skill level & tools available.
