Default Rear end crunch, need help

This is my first time posting on the site, i am a proud of an 2000 Audi A4 2.8. I love my car, but tonight my car had a crunch noise in the rear end while it was in drive it did it for about 10-20 seconds until it stopped. I tried reversing, from a dead stop, but the crunch was more intense and the crunch stopped in drive but when in reverse its very loud and i have no clue what is wrong, one of my bushing on the rear axle is broken, could this be the problem?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading Brad.

Welcome to the site. I will ask you to only make one thread at a time about a given issue. Since I am a new moderator my official act of moderating will be deleting your duplicate thread. As for your problem id look at the rear differential. It may be on its way out

No problem. I was kinda itching to use my awesome new powers. but yeah check the rear diff. If it did it once it will eventually chew all the teeth off

Thats why i left it sit because i didn't wanna do any more damage, how will i be able to tell if the rear diff. is the problem? Take it to a shop or could i check it myself?

Definitely possible. Jack up the rear of the car until the rear wheels are clear of the ground. Leave the car in gear and release the parking brake. Grab the axle shaft on the side where the boot is torn and move it around. Wiggle it back and forth, side to side, try to turn it. If you can recreate the noise you're hearing inside, odds are that's the culprit.

I found out that the noise is in the middle of the car underneath the drivers seat, so it could be the carrier bearing. Not things i like to hear :/
