haha i'm not going to get into an argument because i'm a car enthusiast. I love em all. Compared to an LS1 stock for stock, bolt on for bolt on, i'm well aware that they have the advantage. I think we all know in the car world it all depends on the depth of your wallet to make any car faster than the other...but yeah, I've smacked around my fair share of Firebirds, Camaros, Corvettes etc etc.
I've gotten my *** utterly handed to me by a 97 supra and ashamed to admit, by a fully built, big turbo K20 swapped 92 civic hatch.... Goes to show ya know? But I build my cars for myself, not for other people.
aaaanywho... I was re-reading some of the posts and one of you said that I should change the spark plugs when I change the oil?! EVERY TIME?! You gotta be kidding me... Financially, no biggie, but for the amount of driving I do, I dont want to be changing plugs every 3000 miles...
tell me that was a mistake haha

Nah, you shouldn't need to change them that often. First off, use a quality oil and change it around 5-6k. And do plugs every other oil change if you use BKR6E/BKR7E. You can go longer than that with some of the more expensive plugs, I think, but I'm not sure.

wow its really that frequent?
My stang is boosted and just kicked over 105,000 miles and I've changed plugs in that car 3 times... so four sets all together. Just seems crazy to me that its that frequent. Why so in these cars?

was gonna say, the two plugs on the rear side of the heads on my f150 and mustang are soooo hard to get at. I think that was part of my hesitation haha. As long as they're easy to get to. What're the tq specs for these heads?

well i'm not tightening anything down 'snug' or 'hand tight'... i learned that the hard way once when i 'snugged' down a set of plugs into an aluminum head and stripped out the threads.... car ran ok until I was on the highway and put a load on it and shot two plugs out at 3000k rpms....
so from now on, on any car, i'm only torqing down to factory specs...

I think I was the one who said to change the plugs (NGK BKR7E) every oil change. You should only use synthetic oil (with an oversized filter) and should change it every 5000 miles. The plugs are copper and will not last very long. You could change them every 10,000 miles, as suggested, but they are so cheap and easy to replace that every 5000 miles is not a bad idea.
$2/plug * 4 plugs = $8 /5000 miles. The oil and filter change will run about $40 / 5000 miles.
And as I said, they are so easy to change that it only takes an extra 15 minutes. My wife has a 2.0L VW and you almost need to remove the intake manifold to properly access the plugs.
