Default Readiness: Secondary Air Injection does not "pass"?

I have an 2001 A4 B5 2.8.
I had a few error codes in Engine module and cleared them this morning. Following the clear, all the readiness sections were at "fault or incomplete".

I followed the instructions of the Bentley manual to run the car through the drive tests to invoke the system tests to clear the readiness to "pass". After completing the drive test, all readiness sections changed to "pass" EXCEPT the "Secondary Air Injection"?
The manual suggests to run through road test again until all readiness indicate pass. I ran the road test once more but still have a "fault or incomplete".

Does the A4 B5 2.8 use this readiness section? If so, how do I get it to pass. I have no new error codes since clearing them? Any help please?

(I'm using ebay interface with Vag Com Shareware.)

The secondary air injection is an emissions control device that consists of a pump that pumps extra air through the exhaust on a cold start to get things moving along quicker. It is essentially useless and several people have dinkered with it to delete it, which if you live in a state that does emissions testing, you'll have to keep it or you won't pass. You most likely have that code because you have a bad secondary air pump. It could be wholly not functioning, not drawing air, or not injecting the air. If the pump itself isn't shot, it'll be an electrical problem with the car (bad relay, bad wiring etc).

I'm not sure if the pump is located in the same place on the 01's as it is on the 98 like I have, but on mine its on the passenger side directly below the airbox. Since there is a small hose connected to the airbox for it to draw clean air, I would assume it'll be close to the same location for you.

Find the pump and see if it turns on. If it doesn't turn on at all for a couple minutes when you first start the car after it has sat over night, you'll know something is up with the pump. If it doesn't turn on, pull it off and connect it to a 12v power supply once it is disconnected from the car, if it turns on you've got electrical problems in the car, if it doesn't turn on, its a bad pump.

Hope this helps, and anyone else feel free to correct me and or offer other suggestions

Thanks for the feedback. I took a long drive around town last night (checking out new cars at the dealer) and when I came back, the Readiness for the Secondary Air Injection was "passed"!!
I guess I just needed some additional driving to allow for the tests to run.

I actually didn't have a fault code. It was the Readiness for the Secondary Air Injection would not change from "fault or incomplete" to "Pass". I recently cleared some old fault codes in [Engine] and this causes all the Readiness to flip to "fault or incomplete". After I drove it long enough, the car had enough time to reset them all.
What did Bentley say about the fault code you got?

Glad to hear it. Wish mine would fix itself with some driving... My pump's been schizophrenic since I got the car, it's been unplugged for about 7 months cuz it kept coming on when the car was off and drained my battery and I just haven't had the time or patience to trace down where the problem is...

How many cycles did the car start and stop? Do you think it was mileage or the number of "COLD" starts?

Thanks
