ok... so now this is pissing me off... i just went to the store and back and NOTHING was wrong... drove just normal, i leave the store and start it up again and same thing runs fine... then on the last street at home, at a red light i dumped the clutch and floored it... 1st-4th got to about 85-90 (not redline shifting) and the car purred and pulled all the way through... so u think it might just be the cat(s)... cuz if it was timing or cam issues wouldnt it be messed up everytime i drive the car?

The plot thickens... I didn't know the 12V could get up to 85-90... haha

I have no idea besides pulling the cat out and actually checking it.

Haha ive had it to 120 before........ Ooh and obviously my issue of the fuse blowing above 65mph is fixed now too hahaha

but ima look into the cat thing... Idk if i have the tools to remove it, but if all else fails i can shake it and see if i hear rattling.... Now if there is the rattle noise, and i can remove the cat, how would i go about getting rid of the crap inside of it? Or would i have to buy a new cat?

It's pretty fragile stuff, a hammer and a long pry bar or something will take care of it. However, since you're in Cali, that will only get you by until your next emissions test.

Yeah, if the cat is bad, your cheapest route is probably getting one from a junkyard. I didn't see any for your car on ecs, just universal ones, but those wouldn't pass emissions. I could only imagine how much they'd want at the stealership.

well good news is i just got my smog test done in march... so i have a while.... but i went and shook both cats (passenger and driver side) neither of them made a rattling noise... but one thing i found that was a lil odd, when i shook the passengerside everything was normal, cooled down and everything.... i do driver side... and i burned my hand... now granted i was throwing 1,2,3 misfire codes.... but would that make the passenger side exhaust not work? and like i said also, today the car was running fine all day so i dont know why the passenger side cat would be cold like 30 minutes after i turn it off yet driver side is still hot... anyways hopefully i can figure this out soon

Universal cats won't pass emissions? Is that just CA emissions (known to be more stringent) or emissions tests in general? Don't mean to thread jack, Phil, just that I've never heard about this before

I don't know but on ecs it says that even a replacement cat that's available for the 1.8t isn't legal in CA
