Default Radio removal help...?

Hey guys

quick help, i just need to take out my bose radio from my 2001 to clean out my ashtray and i have the audi keys but i was wondering what code i nead to remember so that when i put it back in, it will work again.

Also, do i have to unplug the battery? Or just take the radio out and put it back in when im done with a code, i just heard our radios are screwed if you forget the code because of the security system or something

please any help needed, i am ready to do this right now...

thanks

you don't need to unplug the battery therefor you don't need any codes for the radio as long as you don't unplug it. you can get the radio code from the dealership if you pay them.

o man, i got the radio, a/c unit, and ash tray out. there was $2.15 in change in it, as well as 3 pieces of moldy gum rappers and 3 business cards, i know, the previous owner didnt realize what how much was under there probably. I also popped out the wood trim piece around the shifter and am cleaning all the trim parts, and now the cars interior is literally brand new. i recommend doing this, o and btw, the ash tray is moving in and out very smoothly now. peace out

@Witwer4444
How did you take the radio out?
I just bought a 2000 A4, it seems like the previous owner messed up with the wires and the radio is not working.
Any details will be helpful.
Thanks!

there are 2 or 4 slots depending on the unit. You can go buy these lil skinny knife like tools to stick in them, or just find something else that fits... They go in and depress a mechanism that holds the unit in... once they are released, pull the radio out by the tape deck.

ya it took me about a minute to get the radio out with the Audi Radio Keys and about 2 hours to get the climate unit out

but it all was worth it when my ashtray started opening again
