Default Radio Problems

Hoping someone can shed some light on this random problem for me.

last night while driving the radio kept muting and displaying TELEFON , this kept happening throught the journey, then towards the end it stuck onto TELEFON and now it wont leave this mode.

can anyone help with this problem or is the radio buggered, i was going to install a new radio but the last few months ive had to pay for a variety of things and havent managed to do much apart from buy the fascia adapter lol, is the stereo buggered and i need a new one or is it fixable?

also i dont have the codes for the radio as i bought the car second hand.

If the radio is stuck on that mode, I'd say you'd need to hard reset it (by unhooking the battery and putting it back in). However, hard resetting would require you to put in the radio security code (I am pretty sure you can get the code from a dealership).

I know ECS Tuning has been having specials on OEM facelift radio (I don't remember the price but it was really cheap from what I remember). Contact the company and see if they can ship to where you live.

Best of luck solving this issue.

i would straight up just buy a new radio if it gave you too much trouble. ECS sells them for like 48 bucks shipped to your door. Comes with a code.

Are these aftermarket radios? When i installed mine it would randomly display CALL and mute itself. Called kenwood the told me to undo the mute wires on the wiring harness and tape them off. It worked and mute still works when I hit the mute button for some reason. But no more CALL.

Nah sounds like they are talking about the stock symphony radio. Our cars had the telephone option, that's why you have a RJ-11 port in the centre arm rest.

I would say you have a short somewhere causing the radio to think the carphone's connected. Check the connection in the armrest, chances are you have some wires touching.
