Glad to hear you and your buds are alright. It's sad to see another B5 go, but it was the right decision to let someone sober drive...you should now beat him with a beer bottle, but even so the consequences could have been worse if you drove. These cars are safe, I owe my life to my VW Jetta that I flipped after someone hit me. Although it was sad to see it go (after having it exactly a month to the day) it did it's job and kept me safe and now I just take that much more care of my Audi. Hopefully you'll find your *** in another B5 soon.
Please everyone drive safe, sober, and wear your seatbelt!!!
...And you should go lurk around the tow yard and steal that RS4 grille back and send it to me.

Really? I'm not one to normally get worked up over something online but REALLY? I PRAY some drunk driver hits you and drives away and they never find him... You sir are a dumbass.
And OP it sucks about your car man. Best of luck, it's easier to replace a car than your life.

New (to me) car update; test-drove the BMW 525i today. It's clean as hell and the engine is in great shape. Just a few very minor cosmetic issues in the interior. Price is right, so hopefully I'll be getting my insurance money tomorrow and pick up the Beemer tomorrow night.
Yes, I know everyone spells it Bimmer, but that's freaking wrong and I don't care. It's pronounced Beemer, so I'm going to spell it Beemer because I learned phonics in English.
The plan in the back of my head is I'll drive the 5 for a while and get all my finances in order, and hopefully I'll be back in a B5 in a year or so. With thirty valves. And two turbos. And a spare BMW 5-series for when I feel like reminding myself how incredibly awesome the B5 interior is when compared with... well, everything else.

Glad your ok and the panzer took the beating and not you and your friends.
I have a soft spot for bimmers and that car looks real nice. Only thing is when I had my 328i here in Michigan I had to have another 4wd vehicle...Ugh. Sob would get stuck constantly. Won't you miss the quattro? It's spoiling I tell ya .

Going to miss it like crazy! But I can't find any A4's in my price range that aren't a '96 12v or that don't have a blown motor. I thought about picking one up with a 5-speed and a blown motor and then do the 4.2 swap, but I kind of need a car to get around; I can't be without a car for long enough to do that.
A friend of mine has a '99 30v 5-speed though, so if I ever get a hankerin' I can just ask him real nice! The 5 shouldn't be too bad, it's got brand new Blizzaks on the rear wheels. I might invest in two more for the front as well, depending on how it gets around. Plus side is that I'm going to buy it straight up, so I won't have a car payment anymore. Should allow for some decent modding funds
