quick question about valve covers not gaskets
#21
don't sweat it
i own two AHA 2.8s.. one has your setup - which, as the bentley manual explains - in vehicles with VINs up to 8D-V-205 000 the oil pump is mounted on the front of the engine and driven directly by the crankshaft. these engines have valve covers like yours, and my 97.5 (97 model sold as 98) AHA.
my 98 AHA has the more typical valve covers, and a different oil pump configuration.
as far as the hose being used.. doesn't look too great but it is fine. after my breather hose cracked i just used large silicone hose instead of paying upwards of $50 for another brittle OEM/aftermarket part.
