All you are doing is wasting gas, your not hurting anything aslong as you have the oil pressure and temp up

Heres what I think. Your turbo is spooling just fine and its also moving alot of air however there is no pressure. When you rev your cars engine without load the ECM is alerted to this. Your ECM then signals your N75 valve to open the turbo wastegate and thus dump any boosted air before it has the ability to develope pressure in the system. Without any boost pressure in the intake system your boost guage will display little if any boost as well your DV/BOV will definitely not have the pressure to 'sound'.
Whether or not it harms the engine (it definitely does it no good) revving the engine to redline for anything but launching at a track is stupid. Revving it simply to hear the air pressure escape is < stupid. That, along with aircraft aluminum rear wing spoilers, is for the ricers. Not for us. Lets try to distinguish ourselves.
