So i need a turbo to replace my bad one. And i cant see to find a decently priced turbo that is actually in stock, and not on an unknown ETA from Germany. So now my question is what is the difference performance wise between a true K04 and their K03 with the K04 turbine? Is it worth the 625+s&h? How will it affect a K04 chip for my automatic 97' ? Will my car function correctly or is that something that hasn't or shouldnt be done? That is to mix a K03 modified to be a K04 with a K04 file from GIAC? Or does it just not matter? ( FTR, I personally think it does matter, but is there proof? )

 

Personally I think it's worth it. The problem is that once you put a bigger turbo in the car, you will only want a bigger and bigger one. I love my Gpop k04, and I'm glad I spent the $585 on it (haha it was cheaper when I got it). I still don't have a k04 chip, it's still the k03 chip. Run very well. As far as the difference between the K04 and my K03 with the bigger wheel in it, I can't say, I don't have a K04. If I were you, I would be looking at a gt28rs but that's just me.
If you have to replace a dead turbo fast, the gpop k04 is deffinitly the way to go.

 

but being that he is an auto.... going anything bigger than a k04/gpop k04 he will deffinatly need to upgrade the tranny

 

at some point I'm gonna try a gt28rs on my tranny and see what happens.

 

you dont have to upgrade anything on the auto trans...i run a GT2871r no problem on mine and is all stock

about the gpop k04... thats good to hear and will probably go that route as i need the turbo like YESTERDAY!!!

about the elim kit... this is just my daily driver and dont need all that power, but when i do get a stick, ill be goin ***** to the wall fast with a 3071r. Besides, auto trannys dont last long with bigger than k04

So no ones tested the gpop "k04" against a real k04 to see who puts out higher numbers?
and is the turbine wheel the ONLY difference? or is the compressor housing bigger on a real K04, and if so, by how much? and how do you think running the gpop "k04" with K04 SOFTWARE will run? I need reliability. I dont like surprises. Especially expensive ones, that arent planned!!!

Turbine wheel is slightly larger and the ko4 has a 8blade instead of 12blade design on the ko3 (ko3s also has 8blade) compressor wheel. As far as i know, gpop probably just installs a ko4 turbine wheel and keeps the ko3 compressor wheel.

The differnce between a ko3 and ko4 isnt big (20hp), the difference between the ko4's is even less.

 

so a gpop "K04" could stand in for a real K04 in a setup like this: K04, Hyperboost DV, oem pnp ex mani, Labree HFC, Labree DP, Labree 2.5" DP-back exhaust, GIAC K04 software... said setup will be in place at the end of may or so... just need to get that phukn k04 or go with this gpop k04. or i could save and get the awe k04 kit, but not sure if its in stock... hence my situation
