Default Question about Emissions with down pipe

Quick question with obd2 do they look under your hood when you get emissions done? Or just look for codes? Planning on doing a down pipe and doing the nice spark plug gape trick with the rear o2.

Thanks
Rick

I think it might depend on where you live and how they do things over there. Last time I was at the emission test the guy only used the OBD2, checked my gas cap and put that thing inside the muffler. The hood was never opened. I am in AZ.

Depend s on your state. Some states do visual inspections, some don't. Some use sniffers and rollers, some don't. Where do you live?

Also would noise raise suspension?

Not necessarily. Like I said, depending on the state you live in, the guys at the garage will do a pre-defined set of tests. They don't know what a B5 is supposed to sound like, so if its louder than stock its not gonna matter

In TX they are supposed to do a visual check to ensure the cat is still there...

I passed.

In VA, we have emissions every two years if you go to a "reputable" shop lol. I kept my stock cat so in case I fail, I can just put it back in to pass and then swap the test pipe afterwards.
