Okay i am just looking for good information about the 96-01 a4's.. which one would be a better one to buy the 2.8 or the 1.8t? which one is more reliable and whats the quickness comparison? each motor what goes wrong with them (if anything) wanting to buy one but i'm not sure on these things! i just want it to be reliable.. i see a lot of ones with 150k mileage + and seeing where these motors usually go bad or start having a lot of problems! thanks guys!

RE: question about a4's!!
the search bar is your friend, we have answered this question so many times I've lost count. Also you can check out the A4 newbie guide on the A4 page and that will help a lot.
basically
if you want to mod the car performance wise - get the 1.8t
if you don't - get the 2.8
They both last long, both have stuff that breaks, and both are really good cars.

RE: question about a4's!!
Depends on what you want...
Reliable but slow daily driver: 2.8 (make sure its 97.5 or older, and that it has a manual transmission)
Modable/Tuneable car that gets good MPG and can be very fast (assuming you have lots of extra $$$): 1.8t
Looks/comfort (stock): 2.8 with the sport package
If you like turbo'd cars in general: 1.8t
I'd search the board. There are plenty of people on this board that are in the same boat that you are in and i would advise using the search function to find the answers (a lot!) that they recieved. Make it your decision though! Research all of the options and choose the right car for you!

RE: question about a4's!!
Well they're just like any other car, stuff wears out over time, gotta replace it. Or else it won't work good. It's just that german parts are more expensive, because they're better
I think if you get the 2.8 you'll be happy for a while but soon you'll want to add performance parts. But you really won't be able to, and then you will be sad. The 1.8 is a better choice for car enthusiasts in general, 100x the aftermarket of 2.8s and a lot more room in the engine bay to wrench on it and add stuff.
