proper way to bleed coolant 2001 a4?

Default proper way to bleed coolant 2001 a4?

so I just got my car back from the mechanic, he did the cam tensioner and coolant flange, so yay no more ticking or coolant loss! however it is still running hot at 100c+. It has been brought to my attention that this might just be caused by air in the system from leaky coolant flange. I have seen 3 or 4 methods of how to bleed the system, one diy said to just take the coolant cap and run the car for 10 mins and that will get the air out. Another said there should be some magic bleeder hole somewhere that will purge it as well, but I cant seem to find it. Can anyone tell me the easiest and most accepted way of how to purge the air in a 2001 1.8t, is there a bleeder hole somewhere? Any advice would be awesome, I am so close to being able to drive my car again…

is the needle past halfway? if not theres no problem

Yes the needle will usually sit midway between the middle line of the guage and the next line up, vagcom gives reading of around 102c up to 107c, and occasionally temp will drop to normal then cliimb back up again, but yes most of the time it is past the middle mark. I just had coolant flange and ect replaced yesterday.

when i do mine i just run it with the cap off til it boils over... its prob not the right way, but it works.

The magic hole is on one of the heater hose right where it connects to the heater core by the battery. Loosen the hose clamp and pull the hose back (carefully, the neck on an old heater core can break) till that hole is back far enough to blead out bubbles. if you're running at 102 - 107 C, I'd guess you still have a bubble.

found the problem, my thermostat was sticking closed, had that replaced and the car stays nice and cool! thanks to all for your advice
