Default probably impossible BUT!

im not going to lie, i know a decent amount about cars, but when it comes to turbos i am completely lost! lol. Im guessing this is impossible or it would be extremely expensive BUT heres the story:

I have a 99 a4 2.8qm. my dads friend has a b6 (2002 i think) 1.8t. He had the cvt trans which if any of you know this was NOT a good trans to have the first couple years. Anyway, his trans recently blew! so jokingly im like dude let me get the turbo off the car! little did i know my friend would actually ask him and his dad said that he might do it (not sure but hes a nice guy so i wouldnt put it past him) . Soo my question is is this possible? i HIGHLY doubt it is because of space under the hood and the turbo prob isnt set up for the engine but i know nothing of turbos so i just figured i ask before i completely scrapped the idea. ?

On a side note what do you guys think of the b6 five spoke rims on a b5? he said i might be able to trade rims, just wondered if you guys think it would look good.

It's possible but it's gonna cost you a fairly large amount of money to do it. Also when you're willing to spend the money to do it, I don't think the stock turbo from a 1.8T will be worth the hassle.

B6 wheels look pretty nice on a B5.

The problem is, when you say "trade", I don't think stock B5 wheels will fit the brakes on a B6 without spacers.

I agree with Randy. To run any turbo, you'd need standalone and a whole lot of custom fab work. To go through all that just to run a K03 would be a waste of time and money

If a ko3 boosts before 3grand and dies around 5grand on a 1.8t, then I can only imagine how useless it would be on a 2.8. Not to mention the amount of custom work that would be needed. Good thought, but forget it. Maybe try and put it on a quad or snowmobile.

lmao i think i could pull it off Im guessing doing a complete engine swap would also be overpriced and worthless too. TRUST me, me and my friend WILL NOT let a turbo go to waste! we already started talking about what we could do with it! hes been dying to build a go cart so we might see what we can do! If anything ill just set it up so i can hear the sweet whooooshing sound lol. thanks for the help anyways.

I'd bet the 2.8 would spool it by 2000 rpms and kill it by 4
