Default Power Steering Question

Quick Q here. My steering rack is in need of replacement. However, I am supossed to drive 250 miles to a baseball game for memorial day. The rack is leaking but I keep topping the resevoir when necessary. Any serious consequences driving this car on monday? 97 B5 FWD.
Thanks

Also, the local parts shop wants to charge me around $1200-$1300 for the repair. I found racks online for about $350. I changed the rack on my E30 years ago, how much of a headache is this repair? Anyone have any pointers? (97 A4 FWD) Thanks Again!

The rack is located high on the fire wall. You'll need a lift. Labor should
cost around $600. Use 11s fluid.
