Well I have the atypical HP PS hose leak at the junction where the metal coupling & rubber meet. Right now I have to 2 FI clamps there to keep the leaking to a minimum. I'm in search of a trashed PS hose I can have sent out & rebuilt with better materials. Going to have it built like a SS brake line. The OEM crap that Audi uses is just that...crap! Now I have found a thread on another Audi Forum where a very knowledgeable guy did some extensive tests with PS fluid. Yeah I know the gospel is mineral fluid but Pentosin makes a synthetic PS fluid for our cars. The regular stuff comes in a white can, the synthetic stuff comes in a green can. Well apparently Pentosin says you can mix the 2 now. Not only that this fellow has found that Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF is the same as what Pentosin is and maybe better. He has used it in his Audis with no ill effect at all. He has gone so far as to use Redline Synthetic ATF and he likes it even better! Well I went with Mobil 1. I have had no ill effect on the rack or anything else. i would go as far as to say the steering feels even better.
But try it at your own risk.
