Default Possible ICM, coil problem, need advice.

98 audi a4 1.8t The other day when I started up my car the CEL started flashing and was rough idle and driving. Ran the codes and it is p0302, cylinder 2 misfire. So I got a new coil pack, 80bucks, didnt fix the problem. So I look around and read it could be the ICM or spark plugs. I'm going to change the spark plug tomorrow and possibly the ICM, if I can find one. The dealer said the ICM sells for $392 is that right? Should I buy one online? If the spark plug and ICM do not work, what are my other options. Thanks for any advice.

You should have switched the coil pack to a different cylinder first to check it then run the codes again to make sure the misfire followed befroe you shelled out the 80 bucks for the new one. It could be a bad plug, how old are they? Anything over 10,000 miles on the plugs, and they could be going bad...

the ICM costs $90 to $140 brand new from online sellers. $400 is rediculous.

when the ICM does burn out, it likes to kill the signal to cylinder #2 first for some reason, so that is probably the case. you should have swapped coil packs with another cylinder to see if the misfire follows. now you have an extra coil pack for when one goes bad.
