Most of the accs are different. You really need a AEB or even a ATW as a replacement. Plus they are trans specific

Default so... no?

Wel I already have the engine, im assuming its not going to be too easy but is it possible with switching stuff around or is it going to need a bunch of custom brackets, etc that wont make it worth it? They look almost identical

The blocks are completely different. It will be faster and cheaper to just get the right motor

there are updates/upgrades on the awm block compared to the aeb block, so you would need to get an 01 ecu as well..... but then it won't run your instrument cluster right, so long story short, sell the awm block and get another aeb block

there is an aeb short block for 150

but if you can make it work i'd take the aeb head off your hands

Well im switching all the sensors to the AEB ones. I guess this weeekend ill know. As long as it bolts up to the tranny I will see if it starts. Why would I need to use the other ecu? It doesnt plug in...? Also if it does work I will have the AEB long block for sale.

Why would I need to use the ECU? I'm using all the sensors from the AEB. Sorry Im new to the VW scene. It would be nice to make it work and post up the write up, but I guess we will see. Any info is appreciated
