That part connects the metal engine block breather tube to the PCV valve, where the PCV valve is connected to the TIP. I agree that rubber should be just fine. However, should you decide that $27 is a lot of money to spend on such a piece of rubber, silicone would perform very well (assuming well-tightened hose clamps). I think the inner diameter for that piece is about 3/4", or about 19mm.

@CCA4 I don't know where it goes either, just because I can take it off I don't necessarily know where it goes he he I'll figure it out when I start putting it back together.
@MetalMan Ha! thanks for the location
I paid a little more than a pizza for it though. I got to say that what the dealer charges for this job is not too bad. The time, money, frustration, and just plain know how is worth the money. It is hard to justify paying so much for an older car though. Anyone know how much the dealer charges for a Tbelt change? I'd say 500 or bellow is a good deal to not have to deal with the mess it causes.

I got a dealer quote for my old 12v at $4k, and indie shop quoted me $2500 for my avant. You're better off doing it yourself lol

So I'm all done with the engine fix, replaced everything that needed/should be replaced, valves, belts, tensioners, pulleys, etc. Put the whole thing back together, add the coolant, we're ready to start the damn thing, and lo and behold there is a water leak somewhere. After searching we found it. The damn cooling flange! What a piece of crap design!!! UGH! Freaking pipe barely goes in, is there any pressure on there? Are you kidding me? So I'm buying the flange but I'm not convinced it won't be a problem in the future still. I sure hope is not the tube or I'm screwed for another 200bucks. I HATE this flange!

I went ahead and bought it replaced it last night and found out what the problem was. Apparently the seal I got the first time was the wrong thickness so when the bolts were tightened, the seal wasn't good enough. Just thought I'd share. I am now trying to start it for the first time but think I'll need a fuel filter change as well. Will do tonight and see how it goes.
