Default Please excuse the noob questions but...

I just purchased a B5 who's timing belt broke...let's just say do not let that happen to yours. Anyway, needless to say I have my hands full. Being that I'm not one to halfass anything I'm rebuilding it the right way. While rebuilding, cleaning, washing etc. I am coming across a bunch of hoses that need replacing, some are vacuum hoses some aren't. SO my question is, I took a look at the parts guide tab up there and the stainless steel has mesmerized me. Is there a parts list anywhere that would help with the id on the hoses I may need? Has any of you used the stainless steel hoses? Should I just stay with OEM stuff? Also, I found the manual and it is just awesome, I love forums TIA!

For vac, evap, and PCV hoses, I would recommend silicone. Between ECS tuning and 034 motorsport, you can replace just about every hose under the hood with a better looking, better performing silicone version. What did you have in mind for stainless?

^ He's right, brah. When I did my vacuum lines that's where I went. Get about 20' worth of hose and the ID for the vacuum hoses is 3.5mm. From Flex Technologies, it's $.60 a foot.

Good call guys, thats way cheaper than ECS. Gonna have to go to 034 for the Audi-specific PCV/breather hoses though

Always listen to the redneck. We know where the cheap stuff lies.

Definitely more durable, and in some cases (turbo inlet pipe, intercooler charge pipes, etc) more efficient. The OEM vac, PCV, and boost hoses are made of rubber, which degrades because of age and heat. The silicone replacements are pretty much bullet proof.
