Piston Question
I finally got the info i need on these pistons that are being dropped in. The guy says he is putting in Top Line pistons. I tried to do some searching, but didnt find much on these. They are obviously not Mahles, so im worried that they will be some crap pistons. Any input?

RE: Piston Question
never heard of them. why are you changing pistons? the Mahle pistons you have stock are forged and have held up to ridiculous power, i dont see some company with little info on them could be any better...

RE: Piston Question
they bore out the cylinders and put in larger size pistons then the stock ones. I believe its a common rebuilding process. The guy is charging 350 for pistons and rings. And i think he thinks they are cast.

.50 over or somethign like that. Im not there for one, and my dad gets pissed anytime i ask about thecar. So i know very little excpet i did expect them to rebore just because i thought that was the rebuild procedure. As for the crank, i was asked if i wanted it all balance.

I presume those would be a better choice, they are forged and only a hundred more then the Top Lines, although, they dont seem to have the right oversize to fit with the .50 bore.

RE: Piston Question
oh ok, so he just bored it out slightly and didn't stroke it. you should really be more hands on with whats going on with your engine. now is the PERFECT time to build the engine. You should get him to bore it out 83mm instead of just 81.5. i couldn't see it costing any more since he's already boring it out. then get an aba crank and you'll have 2 liters o' fun. any other time you'd be wanting to do this, its gona set you back some serious coin.
but as for your situation right now, JE definitely sells pistons for your application, wiseco and mahle should as well. Just email the guys you'd be buying from and tell them your cylinders were bored out .5mm and you still have the stock crank.
