Pics of Rear Diff and Drive Shaft, need your input
The pics I included are of the rear diff on my 99 A4 quattro 2.8 automatic.
The build up you see in the pics, is that the axle seals leaking or is it normal.
It's hard to tell as most rear ends usually look like they are wet on the bottom.
I've not notced fluid leaking or stuff on the ground.

Also, here is a pic of the drive shaft. I noticed one of the bolts was loose, could this cause to have fibration? Damage? I'm assuming it was removed before. I can grab the drive shaft by the ujoint and move the back part in and out somewhat. How much play should there be? Trying to figure out it my driveshaft is bad.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Have some noice coming from the back and trying to determine if I'm low of fluid in the back or if the drive shaft needs replaced.
Thanks,

Check you diff fluid to see if the seals are leaking. Its a bit hard to tell without actually looking at it. The seapage in those pics is pretty much exactly how gasoline looks when it deteriorates, but dont jump to conclusions, its prolly not that lol, but the fuel tank is right there. If your low on diff fluid, doing the seals would be smart.
A loose driveshaft will definitely cause a vibration/clanking when it gets real bad. I would think the driveshaft isnt damaged yet, so re-torque those bolts evenly and see if it goes away.
BTW, photobucket hosts images for a reason, copy and paste the image code into the post and then change both "IMG"s to lower case "img"
