Overheated!!! Badly!!
Long story short my car overheated and the original plan was to throw a new engine in it but the engine that was going to go in it was ****. Plan B is to rebuild my current engine. Any ideas about reliability of this?

Make sure you get your head and block resurfaced. Odds are the overheating has caused some damage.

**** if u lived closer i would do it for a 20 pack of beer lol... we just did all that **** last semester in class... make sure u check for warpage though... its allowed .001" per cylinder or .002" per every 6 inches... so if ur within those specs u will be fine... so if u do take it to a shop make sure u have them measure it and give u the results and dont just take their word and have them resurface it if its not needed

lol Phil what is a 20 pack? Didn't know there was such a thing
n00b, this may be an irrelevant question, but what was causing the overheating in the first place? are you 100% sure the engine needs a full rebuild? apologies if i missed a thread on this before, haven't been around much as of late. As far as reliability goes, people build the 1.8T all the time. As long as you have a knowledgeable and reputable shop/guy/couple guys doing the work you've got nothing to worry about. Are you gonna take this as an opportunity to build the motor for future BAT or just gonna stay stock?

The overheating was caused by me being an idiot and driving with no coolant. I thought the coolant was just low but apparently the coolant flange was leaking. I went to the shop and checked it out and i saw how warped the heads were. How much should a job like this cost?
