okay i need help

Default okay i need help

i have a 1999.0 2.8l auto and i get about 280miles on a full tank that was driving it really nice normaly its like 250 on it hard ive change all the plugs oil seafoamed the car and everything i cant figure out why it gets bad gas milliage i get about 17 if im lucky in the city everyone else gets about the 300 range is there somthing wrong with my engine its really smooth and every thing theres not codes on vagcom can you guys help me out maby its the k&n filter not getting enough cold air?

if u get too much air then the computer over compensates and dumps more fuel in thus resulting in your poor gas mileage.. im ugessing since u arent throwing any codes and u said ur car runs fine then ur not running lean which in turn means ur computer is prolly jsut equalizing the formula of air/fuel ratio

by trunk im hoping u mean hood lol.... and no worries my **** is always hot too... and i hardly ever drive it hard unless some **** smoker cuts me off lol

haha yeah i heard the oem air box is better and i wanna go ahead and get an oem air box since i didnt buy my car with one

O2 and MAF sensors make a big difference for mileage. How many miles are on your current set of primary (pre-cat) O2 sensors? If you've got over 60k miles on them and your mileage sucks, try changing them and cleaning the MAF. Check the tailpipes - do you have carbon buildup? That usually indicates rich running, and is a symptom of those sensors not working right.

i thought there would be a code that says the o2 sensors are bad im not sure i bought the car with 201k and im at 207k now

They can be degrading to the point of hurting economy without being bad enough to set a code. That may be the point you're at now.

yeah true how much is the sensor can i go pick one up at autozone and is it easy?
