Which oil to use???
I have a 98 A4 2.8 5speed manual FWD with about 127,000 miles.
I did my first oil change the day I bought it 2 months ago.
This time when it comes out of the bodyshop (doing some body mods) I will seafoam it and change the oil myself with a K&N oil filter.
My mechanic advised me to use 20w-50 which is thicker and will help the car due to the high mileage and common idle engine noise on 2.8 B5s with high mileage.
What do you think will be the best oil?? Should I use synthetic? I also live in South Florida, hot weather.

absolutely use synthetic. since you live in south florida a 15w-40 or 20w-50 would be good. i run amsoil 15w-40 and wouldn't put in anything else.
also when you seafoam it, you might not want to put it in the crankcase, or not use that much. you might clear out some of the oil that is covering up the wear.

chaos......you were right! Putting seafoam in the crankcase did clear out oil that was covering some wear on the engine. Some leaks started appearing over time.....
This should be helpful to others putting seafoam on their high mileage car.
IF YOU'RE GOING TO USE SEAFOAM, DO NOT PUT IT IN CRANKCASE OR ONLY PUT A LITTLE!
I had to replace the vcg's and I got another leak with burning smell that I can't locate the exact source. PITA!!!
Also, I used Valvoline full synthetic 20w-50 on my last oil change, I think I'm going to try a different oil this might be too thick.
Which oil might be good? I heard Mobil-1 downgraded now, what's the best hot weather high mileage synthetic oil out there?
