Default Oil temp

Well guys maybe I'm just paranoid but I feel like my 12 is running hot in the oil department normal cruising in Chicago during this freak heat of 90degree with the a/c blasting the oil temp sits at about 200-225 my buddy's 12v dosent go above 175 and neither does my dad 1.8t. What are you guys getting. Also to note I was in a fairly good accident which among other things dented the **** out of my old oil filter but didn't damage (Atleast visually) the oil cooler.

Could be you have damage to the cooler internally but my 30v runs in that range with no accident history. I'd say you're fine, but you could put a new cooler on just to be sure.

I'm just north of you by the WI border. Mine runs right at 200 as well, whether it is 50 or 80 degrees.

If you really stop and think about it your probably running a 195 degree thermostat so you know the oil temp runs hotter than that. My 12 Valve runs 200 to 225 most of the time and I'm not worried about that.

Good Luck!

Sweet thanks for the response guys, I've already spent about a grand repairing my car and not really in the mood to do more. I've already determined that the viscous fan clutch is bad since it's always on so I'm looking into a electric fan mod
