Default Oil Pressure Light

Hello all, I have a 2000 A4 1.8t ATW manual transmission. A couple days ago the oil pressure light kept coming on and continuously beeping. After that I started to hear a valve tap so at that point I stopped driving the car. My oil level is correct but the oil is black and it's only been about 1500 miles since the last oil change. It was not black the last time I drained it which was after driving 3500 miles. I'm just trying figure out my next move. Any suggestions?

Low oil pressure. If the light comes on you should NOT keep driving and shut the car off immediately. Wait a little while before continuing.

There are sludge treatments that you can do to try and clear it out, however there is a risk of dislodging larger chunks and causing more issues.

The long term solution is to pull the pan, clean everything out, and replace the oil pickup.

You should be running full synthetic oil to reduce build up.

My oil pressure light hasn't come on since replacing the turbo oil feed line and switching to synthetic with a large oil filter.

Search, this has all be covered EXTENSIVELY.

I run Mobil1 0w-40 full synthetic European formula and the large K&N filter. I figured I'd need to pull the pan and do the pump. Just wanted to see if there were any other options because pulling the pan is a real pain in the ***. I'm also wondering if there is anything else worth looking at once I pull the pan?
