Default Oil indicator

Hey,

I have a problem with my audi. I searched google, also these forums and found nothing that could help me so I would be grateful if anyone could help me to sort this problem out.

Sit rep: everything is okey as long as you drive for about 20 minutes. Later, the oil alarm simbol and beeping comes on computer's display and it beeps all the time with several minutes intervals. When you leave the car to cool down, the alarm and the beep go away, but later (same story).. despite the fact that there is enough oil in the engine compartment. The ride has become unbearable since i can't stop that beeping.

I think that the problem is caused by oil sensor. I would dearly like to know where it can be found, if this can be fixed by myself and did anyone have this problem?

Thanks for the answers guys.

What year and what engine?

Sometimes not having the correct oil in there will cause this but I'm leaning towards the sensor. If you have the 1.8t make sure to run synthetic only and I would suggest 5w40.

it's 96 1.8 (not turbo) 5 valves per cilinder. The oil is correct.

What about the sensor? Do you have any thoughts? Maybe it needs to be cleaned or replaced with a new one?

Ummm.. 96 did not have a 1.8, only the 2.8. Yes though I would replace it. The green one as well. If its a 96 now lol. Not expensive.

.... Europe got plenty of different engines we never saw... He said NON turbo too if you didn't read that. Is this an oil level light or low oil pressure light? If its low oil pressure I would wonder if maybe your oil pump is going out or maybe the metal screen on it is clogged. We have a 1.8T in the shop right now with a clogged oil pump feed tube.

Well, maybe thats because I am from Europe, different types of engines perhaps. Could you give me the part numbers and say where that sensor/s is/are? thanks.

yes, exactly (about the engines). well, nothing's wrong with the pressure. the oil light (oiler icon to be exact) comes on, it says to stop the car and check the oil level.
