Default Oil in DV?!?

So yeah Today I got 2 DVs in the mail! <3 you Mike, no homo! so I full lifted the front of the car and started taking apart the DV. The line the runs into the DV from above when pulled off, I dumped about 1/4-1/2 quart of oil on the ground, on my arms, all over my creeper... So after changing the DV the gurgling sound is gone! GO FIGURE! and the car is running like a rapped ape and it's like McDonald's I'm lovin' it. But that oil in the DV has me scared shitless and need to figure out what caused it!

Was there any in the charge pipe? It's normal for a lil blowby to get in there, but that much seems like the seals on your turbo are shot to me. Check the rest of the piping, have a look in your pcv pipe, and get back to us.

1/2 Quart!?

How long has it been since you took the DV apart last? Would it be possible for that much oil to build up over time? (don't flame the turbo n00b )

Very normal for the age of the car. You might want to think about cleaning everything including the SMIC/FMIC.

I've never heard of that much oil being in there. Maybe you've never had the dv off? Mike that's normal for there to be almost half a quart in there? I don't remember what the stock recirc line looks like exactly, but I'm not sure it could even hold that much oil.

Normal for the stock BPV never being removed since the car came out of the factory.

Stock recirc hose is about 18-24 inches long. Amount of oil in the picture isn't anywhere near a 1/2 a quart, not even a 1/4 cup on the ground in that picture. Normal for a 11 year old car that has never had the BPV removed.

A half a quart of oil spilled on the ground would be the size of a large pizza. lol

Most of it ended up on me and on the creeper since I wasn't expecting fluids I was right under it! The pic is what i dumped out of the DV once I turned it over, but yeah I doubt it's even been removed! I'm glad to have my baby running good again!
