Default Oil drip above catalytic converter

I was under the car earlier and noticed an oil drip directly above the driver's side cat. The car has a tiptronic transmission. Any idea where this is coming from?

I'm assuming it's a seal in the transmission and not a leak originating from the engine?

I have this problem as well. It drips down the side of the case just forward of the tailshaft housing section. It then soaks a small shield, collects, and drips on the cat.

I am told there is a transmission vent above that area. I asked a local tranny shop and two potential causes he speculated are overheating or a bad gasket or seal that allows some pressurized fluid to leak out the vent.

My car had Dextron in it when I bought it a few weeks ago so perhaps it is not being sufficiently well lubricated and is overheating. I changed it and it is still leaking. My plan is to finish the top off and drive it for awhile to see if it lessens or abates now that it has substantially the correct fluid.

Don't count on this to be the definitive answer, I am still struggling with this and this is my best, potentially incomplete or inaccurate, intermediate conclusion I have. Please post if you find out more.

I have a drip from my cat but it looks like it's a leaking seal at the shaft. Then when I drive it slings it around and has collected on the cat shield.
