Default Oil change question????

Hi, i was wondering if anyone can help me out.
i have a 2001 audi a4 last time i changed the oil was about 10 months ago, the car has been sitting most of the time i still have about 2,000-2,500 or so miles to go before another one is due , i was wondering is ita good ideato change it again or wait till i reach the 3-4k mark? threwout time i have been topping it off with new oil whenver it goes little below the recommended mark since its turbo.

thanks guys.

change it again. I change mine every 2500 miles or 3 months with full synthetic and a dealership filter.

Yeah change it! That oil is too old to use.
shops recommend to change it every 3k miles or every three months. Your has more than three months!

Uh... Audi service intervals are 10K miles with semi-synth... I don't know any Audi shops that recommend 3k mile LOFs, especially if they use full synth. It's kinda overkill.

If you use full synth, there is no reason not to go 10K miles. If you have a heavy foot and/or don't use full synth, every 5K miles is a better option to avoid coked turbo oil or *cry* SLUDGE! If you're a freak with a big wallet or an even bigger turbo, sure full synth every 3k miles is great.

^ +1 You wont notice a real difference in performance.
As to the OP you absolutely should change your oil. As to regular intervals when you are actively using the car, with synthetic every 3k is definitely overkill, and some places to say every 10k but I can't wait that long myself....I usually do every 5k or so, debating on whether I should wait until 7.5k on my current oil to change it..I use mobil 1..

is it in my head or in my engine?

i noticed a change in how loud the engine was (you would prolly notice this after any oil change) its not a diffrence in hp or anything like that it wasjust little stuff. also it was the same cost at a lube place and i got to use good oil insted of the shitty recycled oil tha they use...so for no cost difference? i would say its good.
