The only thing about the way you went about fixing this that left me apprehensive was your statement of simply refilling the transmission. Everybody steps on their dick with cars on occasion - god knows I've done some dumb **** and the rest of the guys probably have too. The biggest thing on your side is that it sounds like you drove a very short distance before pulling over and going back and my views below are based on that assumption. Here goes my view on it:

too much oil - you drained it and refilled it properly. Fine. The considerable increase in oil pressure very likely forced oil past a number of seals, but once the pressure was correct after your drain and refill, that's likely taken care of. There's a good chance that your cat is going to be ok.

Cam circuit fault - not sure honestly, but clear the code and see if it comes back. It may or may not. If it does, deal with it then.

Trans fluid - a tip tranny can't just be refilled. It needs to be done with the car perfectly level and at a certain temperature while being monitored with vagcom. It's very likely that your refill is not correct and needs to be redone. There is a DIY out there you can use. If it's not feasible to DIY it, trailer the car to a shop that can. Do not drive it there. You may not have ruined it but continued driving may kill it.

Honestly, again going on the implication that you drove very little with the car in this condition, chances are you aren't gonna lose the car or your *** in trying to fix it.

Don't feel bad, we all make mistakes. Plus a guy I know took his 99 1.8T to Jiffy Lube and the same thing happened. Of course they denied it. But he got it refilled and the car is fine now

ya i had a check engine light on and the car was shifting weird, but then i decided not to drive it and had it towed to my mechanic who drained the rest of the oil and refiled it with new synthetic tranny oil. after that the check engine light turned off.
edit: ohh and if your light is still on you might be low on fluid.. btw how did you fill it cuz you need a special tool that pumps the oil in the same way it came out.

Is this the second time you've done this.....?
