Default OEM alarm help needed.

About 6 months ago my key fob stoped working due to batteries. I would have to be almost touching car with key to unlock. Replaced batteries and ofcourse now they key lost its programming. I found doing some searching you need an extra key so I ordered it last week and when I got it I tried to program and didn't work. I also noticed when the key fob first stoped working when I locked the door the alarm led would go on and shortly after it stoping coming on. don't know what that means. Need help please. I'm not sure if yours works the same as mine as I have a 2001 2.8q, but here is how i did it. To reprogram my key all i had to do was stand next to the driver door, press either the lock or unlock button once (they say for one second), and then lock or unlock the door manually with the key. if everything is good with your key and its programmed correctly, this should work.
