Which Octane do you use?
Fellow A4ers,
Again, still being the naïve newby that I am (A4 owner for 3 weeks now), I'm curious to find out which octane ratings you use on your A4? The previous owner of my A4 said he had to run 93 Octane (aka premium). With gas prices hitting an all time high ($3.43) yesterday for 93 octane, I'm wondering what will/could happen if I run 87 octane. I used to have a 2002 Mazda Millenia that said it was supposed to use 93 octane, but I ran it using 87 octane for almost 70k without any problems. I saw some posts during my search and it was a mixed response, but most of those responses were the "pre gas gouging" that we are experiencing right now.
(btw, I would still be driving the Mazda but a pesky deer did this to it one night while doing 75 mph down the interstate. Still wish I had that car.)
Thanks in advance,
Cheers,
Jim and Desiree

RE: Which Octane do you use?
^ what? That 4-6octane is a HUGE differnce when it comes to preventing knock and not pull timing. Even the diff between 91 and 93oct make a huge diff when it comes to tuning a car.

RE: Which Octane do you use?
I buy the highest octane I can....which around me in cali I can only get 91...
It just cost me 58$ to fill my tank today... gas lis at 3.80 something right now....[>:]
I think that if I had a 12v I would prolly just run 87 in it...lol
