OBD not working?
I drive a 2001 A4 1.8T Quattro and when I went to have the emissions done for tags their computer wasn't getting anything from my port. The person I got it from had a cheap VOLO chip which was working when I first got it but then died after about a week. I contacted VOLO and they sent me a replacement. When I spliced it into the obd port just as the other one was nothing happened. I checked for voltage from the wires that were spliced and they were reading some voltage. I figured just put the wires back together without the chip and it should be fine. So I did and went to try for emissions again. Nothing still. So I called an Audi dealership and they said they would look into it for around $150 and that it sounds like a module. I thought to myself that sounds vague and didn't do it. I don't have any CEL's and the engine is running fine. I got my tags but only by the skin of my teeth. So now I am looking at trying to figure this out because I want to keep this car now that I have read about its potential. ANy ideas?

Just curious if you have a aftermarket radio installed?
Samething happened to me at E-Check. They got no readings at all from the OBD.. ended up being my aftermarket stereo..
Just trying to help out and knock out some possibilities

No aftermarket radio
No its the stock radio. When the guy I got it from bought it a few years back the first thing he did was take it to a shop and had them install a sound system and they used the stock radio. He has never had a problem with emissions so I don't know that it has to do with the radio. I'm wondering if maybe my ecu is shot? I was hoping someone had the same experience and knew what was going on.

Well...I really am an idiot...I guess in my anger I completely missed a fuse but I could almost swear on my daughters life I checked them all...I was on lunch break at work today and thought to myself "Just check the fuses ONE MORE TIME." sure enough there is a 5amp fuse for diagnostics...pulled it and there was nothing left of the filament. So yeah...guess I just saved myself a lot of money but swallowing my pride for anyone who misses something so mundane like me and thinks to check again before posting something...
