Noobi... Audi Badge???
I am new to the Audi scene. Is their any significance to the "RED" next to the "T" on the 1.8T badge on the rear decklid? The Car is a 2001 A4 Quattro, manual. Any insight would be appreciated.

I believe that little red stripe signified the sport package. Depending on your engine code, you also might have the 170hp version of the 1.8T. The engine code will be printed on the front of the head and should be visible with the engine cover removed.
Another thing I would suggest is to determine if you've got yourself a 2001 or 2001.5. The VIN splits at 042384, so if the last six digits of your VIN are lower than that, you've got a 2001, higher and you've got a 2001.5. Another way to tell is the build date. If your build date was on or before October 2000, you're a 2001. Anything after October 2000 and its a 2001.5. This will be important when ordering certain parts like water pumps and timing belt accessories, oxygen sensors, coil packs, etc.
Hope that helps!

you have the awm engine code so you have the 170hp car.... as stated it can stand for sport/s-line.... another way to tell is by looking at the shocks for color... red/orange is sport
i have also seen that red slash on non sport cars.... i think it is something audi did on some of their cars..... all the answers you get unless an aoa rep chimes in are going to be pure speculation
and a search of the forums would have shown this question has actually been asked at least a hundred times

I think the sport package also included shocks/springs, larger sway bars, wheels/tires, different interior trim and the three spoke steering wheel. Not 100% on this one but I think you also got a front strut tower brace.
Also available in 01.5 was the celebration package --i got that one -- which included 17" nine spoke wheels ( commonly referred to as "RS4's" or "Celebrations") and high performance rubber.

that i am not 100% positive on, but i have everything else you mentioned
the reason i say it is not always for the "sport" cars is i had a buddy in town that had the red t on his car but had 15's non sports suspension blah blah blah
so maybe it was for the 170 hp cars?
