I have noisy lifters in my '02 A4 3.0L as well. Called up Audi and they gave me a worst case scenario of 5g's, and best case scenario of 2.5g's. Still waiting to hear back from a few other local import mechanic shops.

Has anyone here had their lifters replaced? If so, did you have to replace any of the camshafts as well? Just wondering if this is indeed as huge of a project as it apparently costs.

Everyone has told me not to drive it, because it's just going to cause more and more potential damage. Is it really that bad to drive short distances, not letting the rpms get too high?

Going to have to do something here within the next couple of days, any info, tips or knowledge is greatly appreciated!

Where are you buying your oil from? Royal Purple is one of the premier racing oils.

I have 120K mi on mine and it has noisy lifters. It still runs like a champ. Just because you have lifter tick does not mean you have a problem.

No, RP has always been an oil for people who go online, look crap up, see some recommendation without backing data, and buy into it.

Not true. Oils can be objectively compared with test results and BobIsTheOilGuy forums have the most useful information about oil that you can find anywhere.

Just because I linked Google searches doesn't mean that none of the results are valid. You're just saying that because you don't want to look through any of it.

My buddy has been running Royal Purple for going on 6000 miles and his car is running great.
