Cam position sensor (G40)
MIL control circuit open or shrot to plus
Misfires on 1 and 3

I am just biting the bullet and replacing all coil packs plugs wires cam position sensor and a few intake lines. What the hell is the MIL lol

Is there something that would cause this to all happen at once? It drove yesterday, rough idle, hard start from cold but still ran well under load. (2nd A4 ive had)

Your cam sensor is probably shot. The ECU needs verifiable signals during cranking from the cam and crank sensors or it won't start the car. On a V6, one cam sensor can fail and the car will still start since it can read the other. On a 1.8T if the cam or crank sensor is bad, the car can't correlate the bottom and top end rotational parts' positions and it won't allow the car to start.

with 150k, would it be a good idea to do the coil packs anyway? Or go by "if it aint broke, dont fix it."

Planning on having this car around for a long time so longvity is key. Hopefully she will be a track car in the future

You wouldn't hurt anything doing them but if the car was running fine before this issue, it's probably premature to get them. I'd buy one or two and put them in the trunk. That way when you do get coil death, you can change it on the spot and drive to the parts store to get the rest of them. Swap them all out then and keep the good ones you remove for backups.

good idea. on a side note, I couldnt get to service position one. This car has never been taken apart (150k on ORIGINAL timing belt.) Any words of wisdom on getting the plastic facia off? I dont want to break the plastic hangers and have it sag on me like other one...
